David Wm. Brown, President
These
are exciting times at Associated Hebrew Schools
of Toronto. Since 1907 and the opening of the Simcoe
Street Talmud Torah, our school has shaped the
development of Jewish education in Ontario. Now,
as the school positions itself to enter into its second
century of providing Jewish educational services in
Toronto, we rededicate ourselves to our vision and
mandate.
We
are committed to our mission of excellence in
Jewish and General Studies education based on Torah
values in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Associated has demonstrated this commitment to
our constituency and community by attracting and hiring
leaders in education who employ state-of-the-art
education techniques and theory. We do so keeping
in mind our financial responsibility to our parents and
maintaining our strong belief that all Jewish children
are entitled to a Jewish day school education regardless
of their financial status. Together with UJA Federation
as our partner, we strive to uphold this doctrine.
At
Associated we recently rewrote our constitution
and restructured our governance model. This will
provide for more input and direction from our Board,
which is comprised of community leaders and parents
of our students. Our Development office has seen
unprecedented growth over the last two years. We
have been the fortunate beneficiary of donations from
community leaders who believe that Associated is
the school for the community. As a result of this
generosity we have introduced new and exciting
programmes to address the wide diversity and needs
of our students.
Associated
has grown to become the largest Jewish
day school of its kind in the world, but we at Associated
do not measure our achievements based on size.
We do, however, mark our successes through the
accomplishments of our graduates who rank among
world-renowned scientists, lawyers, physicians,
educators, community leaders, and executives. It is
through our students that Associated will measure its
legacy.
As
we forge ahead into our second century,
join with us. Become a part of the excitement of A Great School,
Associated Hebrew Schools of Toronto.
