Middle School

The minute you set foot in the Danilack Middle School at the Hurwich Education Centre, you sense something special. The halls are filled with energy, evidence of a very active and inspired student body.

In Grade 6, students from our Kamin (north) and Posluns (south) campuses join together at Danilack. Having Toronto's only freestanding Jewish middle school provides Associated with the unique opportunity to introduce more responsibility and freedoms to our students.

Our students move from classroom to classroom, have lockers and more independence. They are also expected to take greater responsibility in planning and scheduling homework and assignments.

We pride ourselves in providing an outstanding preparatory program for high school. Our students excel in a variety of disciplines, including National Bible Contest (Chidon Hatanach), the Canadian National Mathematics League National Competition, and a creative writing contest sponsored by Ontario Holocaust Centre. Our graduates go on to achieve great success at CHAT, Or Chaim, Uplanat Orot and other public and private high schools.

At the Middle School our students are supported through a wide range of services, which include academic coaching, counseling, ESL, enrichment, FSL (French as a second language), psycho-educational testing and the delivery of individualized plans for students.

Middle School is also a time to enjoy school life. Because we amalgamate our two elementary campuses, students have the opportunity to meet many life-long friends and have great opportunities for extra-curricular involvement including team sports, school plays, concerts and special programs. There is a student council and Associated students involve themselves in chesed and communal activities for the Jewish community, community at large and Israel.

Middle School is a wonderful culmination of the Associated experience and students leave with knowledge, experiences, memories and a sense of community that will last them a lifetime.
